Sebelius vote set for Tuesday

A vote on Sebelius has been set for Tuesday, one day before the full Legislature returns to attempt an override of her veto of better abortion regulations. I doubt that date was chosen at random. Waiting any longer will only put her nomination in further trouble. If the Legislature would happen to override her veto (which I don't think will happen), she'd be in more trouble. Right now, Sebelius says she has the votes to win confirmation. I doubt that will change by Tuesday.

Sen. Pat Roberts looks like he will still vote for confirmation. Sen. Sam Brownback looks as though he's still going to vote to confirm as well, although it certainly isn't going over well with the pro-life community.

I certainly don't want to see Sebelius confirmed to the HHS post. She's proven herself over and over again to be nothing more than a pro-abortion radical beholden to George Tiller even when she's getting ready to leave the state. I can only imagine the paybacks she'll have to hand out as HHS Secretary.

Sebelius veto triggers more Republican opposition

Gov. Sebelius' veto of reasonable abortion regulations today brought out more opposition from Republicans. GOP Chairman Michael Steele voiced his opposition to a vote on Sebelius until she answers more questions regarding her relationship with abortionist George Tiller.

Democrats were quick to say the opposition was just a move by Steele to shore up his pro-life creds. That may certainly be a possibility. Steele wasn't my first pick for GOP chair and he's certainly made some bonehead moves since his election. However, I think the more likely reason Steele is voicing opposition is because he's learning more and more about Sebelius' radical pro-abortion record and realizing that more and more GOP Senators aren't going to roll over.

What exactly has Tiller done for Sebelius that she feels so in debt to him? It's almost scary to think about what the guy has done that she'd be willing to put her nomination in even the slightest risk to protect him from prosecution.

The veto also brought a response from Sen. Tim Huelskamp. In the blast email sent shortly after the veto Huelskamp said:
"The pro-abortion veto by Governor Sebelius in the last hour of the last day of her 10-day period demonstrates her radical commitment to George Tiller and late-term abortion. It is simply shocking that someone so indebted to the late-term abortion industry is still being considered for Secretary of HHS.”
A quick check of Wasinger site shows no statement regarding the veto. It's become clear Rob is in favor of Sebelius being HHS Secretary, but it would seem an acknowledgment of her veto would at least be in order, even if it didn't address his upcoming Senate confirmation.

I doubt the new opposition will block her confirmation. But then again I didn't think there would be this much opposition at all, so a lot is possible over the next week.

Sebelius vetoes abortion regulations

After "reviewing" an abortion bill for several weeks, Gov. Sebelius finally did today what she wanted to do the moment the bill hit her desk -- veto it.

Sebelius said she vetoed the bill because it allowed patients to later sue a doctor over a botched abortion or because of a coerced abortion. Isn't it nice to know Sebelius is for tort reform when it comes to killing live babies? I wonder how her trial lawyer financiers will react to her taking business away from them?

Even though a vote on Sebelius as HHS Secretary has been delayed until next week, it seems she's confident enough in her chances to go ahead and veto the bill. It seems she's also confident in her ability to choral Democrats in the House to sustain her veto.

In nearly seven years in office, Sebelius has only signed one pro-life bill into law, which was just recently during her Senate confirmation hearings.

The idea that a patient shouldn't be able to hold their physician accountable simply because of which procedure is being performed is quite the double standard. With a veto session coming up next week, we'll see if that veto stands. It's possible a veto override attempt could come within days of her Senate vote next week, making for some interesting news.

It's D-Day for Sebelius

Today is the last day for Gov. Sebelius to take action on a bill that would firm up the state's regulation of abortions. The timing sure doesn't seem to be working in her favor as she waits for a Senate vote on his nomination to be HHS Secretary.

After lying in written questions to Senators about her connections to George Tiller, she token signed an abortion bill into law. Will she repeat in her quest for a Washington office?

Time will tell.

Did Sebelius benefit from $200,000 worth of Tiller money?

More questions are being raised today about just how cozy Sebelius and Tiller have been over the past few election cycles. KTKA 49 in Topeka has another story up about a fund raising letter sent out for George Tiller's ProKanDo PAC signed by him.

In the letter, Tiller states that he donated $200,000 to ProKanDo will the aim of electing pro-abortion Sebelius.

Of course, no one will make any kind of comment. The question becomes, is this kind of spending something that should have been reported by Sebelius to the Senate for her confirmation hearings? It's hard to believe that she doesn't have an fundamental understanding of who was instrumental in getting her elected governor.

It's Tax Day! How much does Sebelius owe Kansas?

Gov. Sebelius has already admitted to both lying on three years worth of tax returns and to how much campaign cash she received from abortionist George Tiller. But because Kansas income taxes are based on how much a person pays in Federal taxes, the question du jour has now become how much did she cheat the state of Kansas out of the past three years?

Fact is, no one knows. According to Channel 49 in Topeka, neither the Governor's office or the White House is saying if she had to pay additional state taxes.

But according to the Kansas Department of Revenue, any changes in a previously filed federal return must be reported to KDOR within 180 days and any back taxes must be paid in full with interest to avoid penalties.

Don't the people of Kansas have a right to know how much their governor cheated her own state out of properly due taxes? She's been so eager before to raise taxes (property, sales and anything else she can think of), why not admit whether or not she's paid her fair share?

If three years worth of tax returns can cause this much trouble, imagine what a ten year review would reveal.

Will Sebelius meet with woman forced to abort her child by Tiller?

Kansas Liberty is raising questions tonight about whether Gov. Sebelius will meet with a woman who was forced to abort her 25 week old unborn child in George Tiller's abortion clinic.

Michelle Armesto-Berge has previously testified before House and Senate committees about her forced abortion at the hands of her parents and Tiller's staff. She's now asking to meet with Gov. Sebelius to ask her to sign Senate Bill 218 which would tighten abortion laws in Kansas to ensure such an incident doesn't happen again.

I would say chances of a meeting are nil. Sebelius has signed her token pro-life piece of legislation to strengthen her chances at being confirmed HHS Secretary. She has no political reason to sign the bill, and let's be honest, politics is the only reason she's ever done anything. So, no political reason to sign the bill equals one dead bill. And zero chance of a meeting.

The only hope is further damage to her nomination process due to lying about Tiller's campaign donations. If she feels there's been sufficient damage, she very well may sign the bill hoping, like so many times before, that prosecution will simply never happen against her old pal. Regardless of her decision, I'm sorry to say she'll never meet with
Armesto-Berge.

Pro-lifers would be smart to focus on further damage to her nomination process to better the chances of SB 218 here in Kansas. It's a win-win strategy.

Sebelius, Tiller donation flap hits three MSM outlets so far

Just a quick update to my previous post regarding Sebelius lying about her total donations from abortionist George Tiller.

The Lawrence Journal-World has now picked up the story from the AP and has it on its website, as well as it's sister station KTKA 49 in Topeka. A quick google news search doesn't show any other coverage either nationally or locally on MSM outlets. Many pro-life websites are covering the story.

We'll see what happens as the day progresses. It never fails to amaze me how some stories I can find in every newspaper in Kansas while other statewide stories seem to only be relevant to certain geographical areas of the state.

Sebelius shows once again she can't count

Gov. Sebelius has been caught once again lying about her finances. This time it involved campaign finances rather than personal income taxes.

The first person to break this story was the Kansas Meadowlark. In his post, he outlines the evidence behind her $26,000 mistake. You need to go give it a read if you haven't already. It provides much more detail and explanation than you'll find in today's AP story.

Also, you'll note there is an important aspect to the story that the AP story leaves out; the donations Tiller gave to Sebelius that were earmarked for her Insurance Commissioner race but had to be re-appropriated to her Governor's account because they were given after she filed for the Governor's race. So on top of the PAC contributions that she ignored which is discussed quite nicely in the Topeka Capital-Journal story, there's more to it than just that.

What is Sebelius trying to hide? If Tiller is just someone who "provides a necessary health service", why be so secretive about how much campaign cash you got from him?

This again raises questions about the silence from Republicans on her nomination. How many "oversights" does she get? How many times does she get to lie before someone says something? Doesn't the public deserve a public discussion about her campaign ties to the most notorious abortionist in the world?

The next few hours and days will be interesting. So far the only MSM coverage I've seen is the Cap-Journal. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's the only MSM source that carries the story.

Sebelius finally gets some Obama lovin'

After being an Obama groupie for over a year now, Sebelius finally got a little lovin' with an HHS nomination today.

I can't say that I'm thrilled for the governor. While I'm happy she's leaving Kansas (hell, I'd help her pack the U-Haul), she's potentially going to be in a position where she can harm not just people in Kansas but the whole nation. Her government-fits-all solutions are not what we need right now. To the rest of the nation, from the bottom of my heart, I'm so very sorry what we've given you.

On the bright side, I can't wait for the Senate confirmation hearings. I'd like to know which Senators are going to be on the committee. Even liberals have reported that her nomination was being held up because of her ties to George Tiller. I can't wait to hear some of the questions that'll be thrown to her. Kind of sucks when you don't have the Kansas press to hide behind, doesn't it?

Oh, and don't worry about that budget thing. We knew you had no idea how to clean up your own mess anyway.
